Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom :

The directorate is responsible for promoting the traditional arts and crafts of the state of Sikkim. It is a storehouse of hand-woven carpets with traditional motifs, blankets, shawls in Lepcha weaves and exquisitely-carved 'Choktse' or table and many other gift items. The directorate can be visited any day except Sunday between 9.30 A.M and 3 P.M

Do-Drul Chorten (STUPA) :
The venerable Truslshi Rimpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism, build this monastery in 1945. Inside this Stupa, there are complete Mandala sets of Dorjee Phurba around this Chorten, which is one of the most important Stupas in Sikkim, are 108 Mani-lhakor(prayer wheels). These prayer wheels are turned by the devout Buddhist while chanting "hail to the jewel in the lotus ", to invoke Buddhisattva.

flower_festifal in Sikkim White Hall and Flower Festival :
The White Hall of Gangtok is a historically significant monument. It is a two storeyed structure with typical British architecture and was built in 1932. The hall is named after the first political officer of Sikkim, Claude White. There is an Officers' Club and a badminton court in the White Hall. The famous flower festival of Gangtok takes place near the white hall complex. Large variety of orchids are on display here during the spring.
Sikkim Institute of Tibetology (SRIT) :
Situated in Deorali in Gangtok, this is one of the most prestigious Institutes of its kind in India. This institutes has a large collection of rare Lepcha, Tibetan and Sanskrit manuscripts, statues and rare Thankas and has over 200 Buddhist icons. Students of Tibetology from all over the world visit this place for a better understanding of the religion. Tourists can visit SRIT including holidays between 10 A.M and 4 P.M.
Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre :
At a distance of 24 km from Gangtok is the Rumtek Dharma Chakra. This is the seat of the Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism. A 45 minutes drive from Gangtok will take you to this most important and the largest Monastery of Sikkim. The monastery was established in 1960 and is a replica of the original Kagyu headquarters in Tibet.

From its perch on a hilltop facing the city of Gangtok, the monastery complex embodies the vision and aspiration of the Sixteenth Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, to establish his seat-in-exile to help spread the teachings of the Buddha throughout the world.
The centre has a collection of some of the most unique religious art objects. Among this is a Golden Stupa, which contains the precious relics of His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa. Opposite that building is the shedra, or college, Karma Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies
  • Tashi View Point :

  • About 8 km north of Gangtok town on the highway connecting North Sikkim to Gangtok is the location of this viewpoint. You will get a breathtaking view of Mount Khangchendzonga and Mt. Siniolchu from Tashi View Point.
  • Ganesh Tok :

  • A little distance away from Tashi View point the Ganesh Tok is another important view point. A birds view of the Gangtok town is the main attraction of this spot. Mt. Kangchendzonga and Mt. Siniolchu can be seen from here. There is a cafeteria nearby serving hot tea and coffee to the tourists.
  • Hanuman Tok :

  • Just above Ganesh Tok at a distance of about 11 kms from Gangtok town is another important tourist destination known as Hanuman Tok.
