North East India consists of the seven sister states
of the region including Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram,
Tripura and Sikkim. We have also included Northern parts of West Bengal
in this website for better geographical representation of the North
East India. |

The region is bounded to the North by
Bhutan and Tibet, To the South of the region is Bangladesh. To the
East of the region is Burma and the West Nepal and Indian states
of Bihar.
The north east India is the home for diverse cultural and social
heritages, people with different origins, cultures, beliefs and
languages live in the region. The diversity of the ethnic people
makes the region highly colorful.

| The region has a high concentration of tribal population.
The states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland are
mostly inhabited by a number of native tribes. Each tribe has its
own distinct tradition of art, culture, dance, music and life styles.
The numerous fairs and festivals celebrated by these communities and
their friendly nature are irresistible attractions for the visitors.
North east India is famous for its natural beauty. The most important
treasures of the region are its mountains and its forests. Much
of the region is Himalayan and Sub-Himalayan terrain with abundance
of deep and virgin forests. |
